Unless you’re a superhero, it’s not often you get to save lives.
But on August 26, Monitronics employees helped save the lives of 141 people. That’s the word from Carter BloodCare, which collected 47 units of blood that day from 59 employees, exceeding the day’s goal of 34 pints.
“I give blood every time they come—it saves lives,” said Robert Adams, who made the journey from dealer tech support to give a pint. Colleague Neldi Hernandez echoed that sentiment as she leaned back in the recliner and waited for a Carter tech to take her blood. “I like saving lives, too. I get called to donate blood.”
Nearby, several people waited in line, nibbling on cookies. But giving blood is about more than free cookies and a t-shirt. You can save as many as four lives with just one pint donation (and you’ve got at least 10-12 pints in your body now).
“More people need to give blood. I like doing it,” said Vanessa Galvez of tech support.
Carter BloodCare’s volunteer donors provide blood for patients at over 200 healthcare facilities in 56 North Central and East Texas counties.
