Everyday Superhero: Cesar Castillo

On a recent afternoon, Emergency Dispatch Operator Cesar Castillo received a fire alarm from a home in Indiana.

Cesar quickly called the home and when no one answered his next few seconds were spent calling the local fire department. The fire department left immediately to race to the home.

After the emergency

When we were finally able to reach the home owner, he said, “I’m so thankful my home was saved! We accidentally left food cooking on the stove and went shopping. There’s smoke damage and the stove has to be replaced but that’s about it. Thank you for all the help.”

Everyday Superhero: Raul Torres

In the wee hours of the morning recently, Monitronics Emergency Dispatch Operator Raul Torres received a medical signal from a home in Nevada. Calmly, Raul proceeded to call the home phone number. Our valued Monitronics customer answered with, “I’m having pain in my neck and it feels like it’s shooting down towards my heart. Send help!”

Raul recruited a fellow Everyday Superhero to contact the paramedics. To keep our customer calm, Raul stayed on the phone with her. He reassured her that the ambulance would be there soon.

The ambulance arrived within minutes and took over from there.

After the emergency

A couple days later, we learned that our customer had experienced a panic attack. She was relieved that she had decided to get an alarm system that included her medical pendant. Her daughter told us, “Mom is doing great. We’re glad it wasn’t a heart attack and she’s doing fine now. Thank you so much for your help; it was perfect!”

Everyday Superhero: Robert Bowman

On a recent Sunday night, Robert Bowman received a silent hold-up alarm from a food mart in Radcliff, Ky. He immediately contacted the local police who headed toward the store right away.

The police arrived at the food mart and found the store clerk bleeding from his head. Turns out two men had rushed through the front door, toward the lone clerk. He had only a split second to press the silent panic button before he was hit over the head with a gun. The robbers grabbed some money and cigarettes and took off.

The police dispatched an ambulance for the clerk, called for backup, and started searching for the armed robbers. Thanks in part to Robert’s quick response, the police nabbed the men within an hour.

After the emergency

The pair are now behind bars and have been charged with robbery, endangerment, and assault.

We were happy to hear that the store clerk suffered only minor injuries and recovered in just a few days. The owners of the store said they were super impressed with the arrest, their alarm system, and how quickly the police were dispatched.

Everyday Superhero: Julia Trevino

On August 4, Julia Trevino received a burglary alarm from a business in California. She called the business, but didn’t reach anyone—she left a message. On her next call, she reached the business owner who said, “No one’s supposed to be there, send the police!”

Julia immediately called the police and they raced to the business.

After the emergency

When the police arrived, as they rounded the corner, they saw people climbing out of a broken window. They caught the burglars red-handed and quickly made the arrest.

When we reached the owner of the business, she said, “I’m thrilled that the police were able to arrest the burglars. Thank you Monitronics for helping to save my property from vandals.”

Everyday Superhero: Vanessa Espinosa

On July 21, Vanessa Espinosa received a fire alarm from a home in Washington. She made a quick call to the home but there was no answer.  Immediately she called the fire department. Between our call to the fire department and the fire department’s arrival, the homeowner, Mrs. Crowley, called us—we discovered she was out of town. No one was in the house, thankfully.

The fire department soon arrived to find the house filled with smoke and a fire in the living room. And they began to battle the blaze.

After the emergency

A couple days later when we called the Crowley home, Mrs. Crowley was speaking with us once again. She shared that the fire had started on the main floor near the wiring of the washer and dryer. Mrs. Crowley said thanks to Monitronics and the local fire department, the fire was confined to the main floor and the basement. She also said:

“I credit Monitronics for saving my home. Thank you.”
