Everyday Superhero: Chris Tuttle

In the middle of the night, Monitronics Emergency Dispatch Operator Chris Tuttle received a burglar alarm from a retail store in Arizona. Chris made a call to the business but couldn’t get an answer or a voicemail.

He called the local PD and they were on their way to the business in no time.

After the emergency

The officers showed up to find two burglars in the act. They were quickly arrested and off to jail they went.

Everybody knows–nobody messes with Monitronics customers.

Why Get an Alarm Permit?

You know how you get that all-of-a-sudden-out-of-nowhere strike of knowledge. Yeah, I was there today. I was standing in line at the DMV today waiting to get my car registered. There was a moment, in the hot, grump-filled office, in which I made the connection between car registration and alarm permit registration.

You see, while the time and money that it takes to register a car is somewhat painful—especially since all we walk away with is a measly sticker—we do it. We do it because it is the law, and because there are consequences for not obeying the law. Alarm permit and vehicle registration are equally important and should be treated as such. Some of the consequences of not registering your alarm permit can include:

Fines and citations. Those who do not register their alarm permit can be charged considerable fines. And sometimes the fines increase for each alarm occurrence. The fee to register your alarm is usually reasonable and much more worth it than paying fines when emergency agencies are dispatched to your home.

No police response. Some agencies refuse to respond to alarms in cases where the permit registration has not been complete. Without an alarm permit in this case, you won’t get the help you need when you need it.

Now, I must say, not all of us are required to get an alarm permit. So, how do you know if you need one, you ask? It’s simple. Contact your alarm monitoring company, call your city, check your city’s website, or contact your local police department.

Just like it is your responsibility to keep your car registration up-to-date, it is up to you to determine and register an alarm permit if one is required.

Everyday Superhero: Tara Taylor

On August 27, Tara Taylor received a medical alarm from a house in Tennessee. Right away, she made a call to the home number and she had to leave a message. Next she called the paramedics—she knew someone in the house needed help.

After the emergency

Tara started calling the homeowner’s emergency contact list to try and reach someone—she was unable to reach anyone. She made one last call to the home and, luckily, the homeowner’s daughter was there. She said, “I got your message and rushed right over! He’s on the floor and can’t move. He’s numb and I think he may have had a stroke.” Tara reassured her that she had already contacted the paramedics and they were on the way.

The ambulance showed up while Tara was on the phone so she ended her call knowing that the home’s owner was in good hands.

We’re always on the job!

Everyday Superhero: Kimberly Graham

On September 2, Kimberly Graham received a burglary alarm from a house in Michigan. Right away, she made a call to the home number … no answer … she had to leave a message. Next she called the home owner’s cell phone. He answered and said, “send the police, please!”

Kimberly followed the instruction and immediately called the police department. They were rolling to the home in no time.

After the emergency

Several minutes later, the police called us back. They had found a broken window and a suspect on the scene. The thief was quickly arrested and taken to jail.

Another criminal off the street, another customer’s property saved.

Everyday Superhero: Jasmine Boyd

On September 3, Jasmine Boyd received a burglary alarm from a business in Tennessee. She quickly jumped into action. She first called the business and there was no answer. Her second call was to the owner … no answer.

She made no hesitation and quickly called the police and they hurried to the business.

After the emergency

When the police arrived, they found a burglar trying to get away with a cash register. He was immediately arrested, hauled off to jail, and booked.

We don’t let them get away; not on our watch.
