Moni celebrates MAS conversion anniversary

iStock_000002807197XSmallIt’s a big day here at Monitronics: we’re celebrating the one-year anniversary of our conversion to MASterMind (MAS), our primary alarm monitoring and billing computer software.

For customers and dealers, this conversion to MAS is important because it has resulted in improved customer service: we’re a lean, mean machine with this software. MAS has allowed us to enhance our customer experience and forge stronger relationships with our dealer program, making it easier for everyone to do business with Monitronics.

During this first year, we’ve had our share of bumps and scrapes, but our success has shown us the great work we can do together. It’s also reinforced our commitment to customers and dealers. We’re looking forward to another successful year (and eating pastries to celebrate this first birthday of MAS!).

Longtime employees honored

Strength in NumbersAt my first job out of college, turnover was so high that no one got a desk nameplate and rarely did anyone order business cards. Why bother?

That turnover said a lot about the company: the atmosphere was toxic, the management was jaded, and the pay was ridiculously low.

That horrid experience is actually part of why I now appreciate working at Monitronics. In addition to my very own business cards, I get to see 34 employees celebrate 10 or 15 years of employment. With the same company! Fancy that. And this is what I think that says about Monitronics: employees are valued, pay is fair, and the culture is outstanding.

To commemorate these anniversaries, we had a snazzy little luncheon at the Omni Park West Hotel in Dallas today. The celebrants dined and were each recognized for their service to Monitronics. Ten-year honorees received a ten-year pin, certificate of appreciation, and a $500 debit card. Fifteen-year honorees received a pin, certificate of appreciation, a $1,000 debit card, and two paid days off.

Click below to see the names of the 34 folks celebrating these achievements and join me in congratulating them!

Monitronics turns 15, starts blog

Monitronics is turning 15 this year and like other teens, we want a blog (and Facebook and Twitter). So here we are, finally in the blogosphere. Hello, out there!

What are we doing here? Well, in addition to keeping our customers, dealers, and employees informed of the goings-on at Monitronics, we want to create a public forum to discuss issues of security, safety, and crime. Look for future posts on topics like new trends in home monitoring, FBI stats, crime-prevention tips, and your home through the eyes of a burglar.

But let’s start with something fun: celebrating 15 years in business. Since our inception in 1994 as a small start-up, we’ve grown to nearly 700 employees and 600,000 customers. We’ve got lots of reasons to celebrate.

And celebrate we did. On August 21, we wheeled in an amazing cake from Food Channel celebrity executive chef Bronwen Weber that was the center of attention. It was HUGE: Almost five feet long, four feet tall in parts, and more than 200 pounds.
