Monitronics marathon teams ready for Sunday race
The countdown has started for 53 employees from Monitronics who will be company sponsored in the White Rock Marathon this Sunday. Fifty be running in ten teams of five in the relay portion of the race. Each member of the teams will run between four and 6.2 miles along the 26.2-mile certified course, which begins and ends in Victory Park at the American Airlines Center near downtown Dallas and goes to and around the lovely White Rock Lake. Two employees are running a half marathon and one is running the whole thing.

“I am very happy that our folks have taken an interest in living a healthy lifestyle, for many, this goal of running in the relay teams was the motivation they needed to start a regular exercise program, something Monitronics is committed in supporting,” said John Mejia, Vice President of Customer Care, who will tackle the entire race and has been the leader of the marathon efforts. “I am proud of all of them and regardless of the result, all of them are winners for taking on the challenge and getting ready for the race.”
It’s mostly a flat course with a few hills. Runners will get a nice tour of some of the fanciest neighborhoods in the city, including Turtle Creek, Highland Park, Lakewood, and the Swiss Avenue historical district.
Many Monitronics runners have been training for months to prepare–the first meeting here about the race was in September. Many are newbies.
“Running is not my forte, so I’m glad this is a team effort,” said Renee Mallonee, Dealer Marketing Supervisor. “It has been encouraging to talk to others on my team about where we are in our training and our experiences in preparing for the race.”
